Mornie Sims is currently serving as the treasurer for the POET board. She has lived in Utah, Arizona, Washington State, Norway, Mexico and Israel. She graduated from Provo High School and went to Brigham Young University for her bachelor’s degree in International Relations and her master’s degree in International Development with an emphasis in Third World Literacy. She also completed a Master’s Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (“TESOL”) from Brigham Young University. She speaks Spanish and Norwegian and can also read Danish and a bit of Swedish. |

Mornie has volunteered for years teaching English to foreign students, studying literacy efforts in Mexico, helping build NDPA, among other opportunities. She volunteers because she enjoys being a part of something important and helping to make a difference. She is passionate about language acquisition and literacy research. |
