NDPA K-6 CHOIR PERFORMANCE – Come support the NDPA elementary choir, THIS MONDAY, November 12, at 6:30 PM. We will be performing at the Safe Harbor Evergreen family night at the Davis Conference Center. (Note: Choir members should be there at 6:15 PM.)

BARNES & NOBLE DAY CONTEST - Students, the entry deadline is THIS TUESDAY, November 13, at 3:30 PM, for the “I am Thankful for…” contest. Write a one-page paper or create a picture about what you are most thankful for and why. Turn it in at either school, in the box at the POET desk. We can’t wait to see your work!

Due to limited space and time constraints at B&N, please follow these guidelines:

-Entries are due Tuesday, November 13 by end of school. Late entries will be not be accepted.
-Artwork can be no larger than 10×14 (no exceptions) and can be any medium (paint, crayon, pencil, etc.).
-Essays can be up to one page in length (typed or handwritten) in Español or English.
-Entries should be created during the current school year (Aug 2018 to now).
-ON THE BACK (as they may be displayed publicly): First and last name, grade, and homeroom/advisory teacher.
-Turn entries in at either POET desk in the marked box beginning October 30th.
-Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, and following the guidelines.
-1st place winner per grade per category (K-9) will win a B&N gift card.
-Students may be asked to read their essay at B&N and all artwork will be displayed that day. Please attend that day to read or view your entry.
-Late entries or those that do not follow contest guidelines will be returned to the student.

NDPA COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS NIGHT - Thursday, November 15, 8:00 PM, in the Jr. High gym. These quarterly information nights will cover various topics such as internet safety, meet your legislator, growth mindset, and be your best student. We look forward to seeing you there!

7th-9th NIGHT GAMES - It's at night... there will be games... Night Games! NDPA Jr. High's next social event is Night Games on November 16, from 7:00-9:00 PM. We'll sip hot chocolate and play a variety of games in the gym. Current junior high students only-- see you there!

BARNES & NOBLE DAY is next Saturday, November 17, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This is a fun event with activities for all ages. There will also be teacher WISH LISTS so you can purchase books for their classrooms. Barnes & Noble gives back a percentage of sales to NDPA, those funds are then used to purchase books for the libraries, so be sure to invite friends and family!

VOLUNTEERS FOR BARNES & NOBLE DAY - How often do you get to do your volunteer hours on a SATURDAY? Even your kids ages 12+ can help with some of the work...that's double volunteer hours! You can sign up for as many shifts as you want, helping kids with crafts, wrapping gifts, face painting (supplies and stencils will be provided), helping at the Lego, games, and robotics tables, manning the raffle table, and more. NDPA BOOK DRIVE - Share the gift of reading! POET is holding a book collection drive from November 12-November 20. Bring in new or gently used books to donate. Collection boxes will be available in the lobby of both buildings. Keep in mind, you can purchase a book to donate at Barnes & Noble Day on Saturday, November 17. A portion of the proceeds from Barnes and Noble sales from that day goes to NDPA libraries.

SCIENCE FAIR 2019 - It’s time for NDPA's 14th Annual Science Fair! If you love building things, taking things apart, or finding answers to life’s mysteries, science fair might be for you! Registration forms are due by December 14th. All other information can be found in the registration packet. Happy Science-ing! *Science fair is mandatory for 9th grade but optional for all others.

NDPA JOB OPENINGS

Teacher Assistant/Recess (Middle/Jr. High School)
Closing Date: Open until Filled
Part Time: Approximately 25-29 hours per week
Rate: $11.00/hour (Review after 90 days)
Applicants will have the equivalent of 48 semester hours of education at an institution of higher education; an associate's degree; OR the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test. Applicant will complete a LiveScan Fingerprint and Electronic Background Check in accordance with Utah State Law. Applicant will assist in a variety of forms, such as, but not limited to: working with small groups of students who need extra support, preparing class materials, correct and recording assignments, morning, lunch and afternoon recesses, assist in carpool pick up and drop off and a wide variety of other services.

Substitute Teachers
Closing Date: Open until filled
Part Time: Not to exceed 29 hours per week.
Substitute Teachers are put on a call list and must be available to work with short notice.
Substitute Teachers are paid an hourly rate, based on education level.
