L.E.O. NIGHT AT CHUCK E. CHEESE’S TODAY from 3:00-9:00 PM – Come support NDPA at LEO Night TONIGHT at Chuck E. Cheese’s in Layton. Hang out with your friends, family, and awesome NDPA teachers! The fun starts at 3:00 PM until they close.

MID-YEAR UNIFORM SALE, THIS TUESDAY, JANUARY 16 – There will be a Uniform Sale on Tuesday, January 16, from 4:00-8:00 PM! Gently used uniforms (all items only $2 or $3) and used NDPA Hoodies ($5) will be available. We will be accepting uniform donations (clean and hole free), but at this sale we will only be selling POET owned clothing. Contact Kira, 801-368-7199, with any questions.

9TH GRADE HIGH SCHOOL DAY – Attention 9th Grade Parents! Now is the time to start getting ready for your 9th grader’s next step… high school! On January 18, during our advisory period (8:20-8:55 AM), we will have some of the local high schools come to NDPA to provide our students with registration information; you are welcome to come join your student!

FYI, here is a list of Sophomore Orientation dates for some of our local schools:

  • Clearfield High – January 22, 6:00-7:30 PM
  • Davis High – Contact Davis High to set up an appointment with the Counseling Department
  • Layton High – March 12, 5:00-6:30PM
  • Northridge High – February 7, 5:30-7:00 PM
  • NUAMES – Registration information will be coming out in March
  • Syracuse High – February 20, 3:30-6:3 PM

Parents, if you are planning on your student attending a school that is not within your boundaries, you must contact Davis County Student Services at 801-402-5155 to apply for a variance. This needs to be done no later than January 31.

SHREK JR. AUDITION NOTICE – Auditions for NDPA’s production of “Shrek Jr.” for 5th-9th grades, will be on Wednesday, January 17, & Thursday, January 18, from 3:30-6:30 PM. Look for an audition sign-up sheet in the hall across from the office in the Jr. High Building. Please come prepared to sing 16-32 bars of any song you choose that shows off your voice the best. This is about 30-60 seconds of music. You may bring a minus track, an accompanist, or use a karaoke version on YouTube (just make sure you know where to find it). Come early to allow time to fill out a quick application before your audition time. The call-back list will be posted Thursday evening by 8:00 PM on Mrs. Francis’ website. Call-backs will be Friday, January 19, from 1:30-4:30 PM. If you make the call back list, please come prepared to do some movement, read from a script and sing. The final Cast List will be posted by 8:00 PM Friday.

PLEASE NOTE: If you make the cast, there is a Mandatory Parent Meeting on Monday, January 22nd @ 7:00 PM in the music room at the Jr. High.

Rehearsal Days are Monday and Wednesday 3:15-5:00 pm and Friday 1:15-3:30 pm. There is a required participation fee of $45. The musical will be performed May 3-5, 2018. Hope to see you there!

RECOMMIT FOR THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR – You should have received an email asking you to let us know if your family will return to NDPA and to add siblings for the 2018-19 school year. Please complete this process by January 31, so we know who will be returning next year! If you did not recieve your email, please contact kbaker@northdavisprep.org.

CLASSROOM ART VOLUNTEERS WANTED – Happy New Year! Let’s get this year off to a great start with some volunteering! Each year, the elementary classes make a beautiful project that is sold at the Art Auction. The children love getting involved and are so proud of their artwork. We are looking for a few more volunteers so that each class can participate in a project. You can be that volunteer! Our theme is “Around the World”…think of somewhere in the world and embrace their culture for a beautiful art project whether it is in wall art, garden art, furniture, or something else! SCIENCE FAIR VOLUNTEERS WANTED – Still looking for something to do to get your hours in? Well, look no further, Science Fair is coming up Wednesday, January 31, and we need your help! VOLUNTEER APPLICATION AVAILABLE! You have excitedly waited for the volunteer aspect of Raptor and the time is here! Please use the link below to fill out an application to be a volunteer at NDPA. This is the first step that everyone who volunteers at the school needs to complete. After you fill out the form, you will receive an email with information to login to the Raptor system to log your hours.

8TH GRADE SKI TRIP – 8th grade will be having a ski/snowboard field trip on Monday, January 29. Watch for permission slips with more information to come home next week. Requested donation will be $20 to cover transportation, equipment rental, ski/snowboard lessons based on abilities, and lift ticket.

REAL-LIFE PARENTING CLASSES – Taught by former NDPA behavior specialist, Shaunna Reynolds. NDPA and POET are sponsoring this 6 week course, and offering it to the community, at a greatly reduced price. Please take advantage of this great opportunity and invite your friends and neighbors! Topics include: developing a strong parenting foundation, preschool through teen development, facilitating self-correction, electronic/internet boundaries, and a variety of parenting methods.

K-6 SPRING CHOIR – Choir begins February 6, 3:00-4:00 PM in the elementary gym. Our theme for spring is “Over the Rainbow.”

  • Dates: Feb. 6, 13, 20, 27, March 6, 13, and 20.
  • School performance will be Monday March 26th at 6:30 PM. Second performance to be announced.

Parent help needed for choir practices. If interested please come with your student.

ART AUCTION DONATIONS – POET is seeking donations for the Art Auction. If you own a businesses or have a connection, we can take donations of gift cards, certificates, merchandise, services, money…anything really! And it’s all tax deductible. All businesses will be advertised at the Art Auction. Larger donations will also be advertised on our website and the marquee outside our school. If you have any questions please contact Isabel Patterson at isabelcpatterson@gmail.com or 801-380-7659. Donations can be dropped off at the front desk of the elementary school or Isabel can pick it up. We have a letter that contains our tax information and the kind of advertisement you will receive with your donation. Thanks so much for your help!
