JR. HIGH STORYTELLING FESTIVAL – Join us this Wednesday, December 6, to hear some of the best stories in Davis county! All students are invited to enter their name into a drawing to participate and share a story with the crowd. We will also have a “community” drawing, if any other folks want to join the fun! Doors open at 6:00 PM, storytelling begins at 6:30. Concessions will be available for purchase (small bills preferred); proceeds go to the EcoGeeks!

HOODIE UPDATE – Hoodies will be distributed to students next week! Gift hoodies will be in the office at both schools for pick-up Thursday, December 7. Please take time to look them over and review your order form for accuracy. Contact Kristen at Kristentate1108@gmail.com by Tuesday, December 12, with questions or problems concerning your hoodie order. This is the final day any corrections can be made. PLASTIC BAGS FOR ECOGEEKS – Ecogeeks are collecting plastic (grocery style) bags to make beds and pillows for the homeless. Please help as much as you can! Collection boxes will be located in the lobby of each building. Thanks for your help!

JR. HIGH SCIENCE SPEAKERS WEEK – Our annual Science Speaker’s Week is back! This year, due to Winter Break, we will only be hosting speakers on December 18 and 19 at various times throughout each day. If you know of somebody who would be willing to come in and talk about their career in a Math or Science field to help inspire some Junior high kiddos, please have them contact Patricia Spens at: dapagalu@gmail.com for more information and to be put on the schedule. As always, it counts as volunteer hours for your family! Thanks so much and Happy Holidays on behalf of the NDPA Science Department!

2ND & 6TH GRADES LUNCH WITH PARENTS – Parents of 2nd & 6th graders, please join us at the Lion’s Cafe on Thursday, December 14 for our Holiday Hamtastic lunch! Letters with more information will be sent home with your student soon! The letter, along with payment of $3.50 per non-student ($2.00 per student), is due Friday, December 8. Wristbands that allow you to eat school lunch that day will be sent home Monday, December 13. Please contact LaRetta Foxley with questions (801) 336-3601.

  • 2nd grade lunch will be at 10:30 AM (please note the adjusted lunch time).
  • 6th grade lunch will be at 11:50 AM.

JR. HIGH GIVING DANCE – It’s always a great time to give, so we’re holding a Giving Dance. Current junior high students can bring a non-perishable canned or boxed good on Friday, December 15 for entrance into our Giving Dance. We will also take a dollar donation, and our student government will make sure we stock up on some great supplies for folks who need it. The dance will run 1:30 to 3:30 PM, and prizes will be awarded for the best ugly sweater. See you there!

2018 POLAR PLUNGEREGISTRATION ENDS JANUARY 2! All students are invited to “TRY EVERYTHING” and jump in the Polar Plunge. Find sponsors who will pay you to take the plunge and that money can go toward your Spain Study Abroad now – no matter what grade you’re in!

K-4 LIBRARY – All students in grades K-4 need to return library materials December 15.

K-4 Library Volunteers Needed: Mrs. Zost is looking for volunteers to help weekly in the library at the following times to help students and shelve books.

  • Tuesdays 9:30-10:30 and 2:00-3:00
  • Wednesdays 8:30-9:30
  • Thursdays 2:00-3:00

If you are able to volunteer on a weekly basis, please contact Mrs. Zost dzost@northdavisprep.org.

JR. HIGH YEARBOOK COVER CONTEST – Attention all Jr. high artists!! We are having our yearly Yearbook Art Cover Contest for grades 7-8! We would love to have your entry in our contest. Please include the school year 2017-2018 and our school’s name in your design. You are welcome to use any art medium for your entry, it must be at least 8.5 X 11 in. and portrait style. The deadline is before the Christmas Break so get your creative vibes going! Please turn all entries in to the Jr, High office. Artwork will be returned.

VOLUNTEERING AND ASSOCIATED HOURS – We are not using signup.com this year. POET will be using the new RAPTOR system that the school has for Checking In/Out. Until that is available, we are collecting volunteers the old fashioned way with the volunteer interest form at the POET desk or emailing POET members directly. PLEASE KEEP TRACK OF YOUR OWN INDIVIDUAL HOURS UNTIL WE CAN USE THE RAPTOR SYSTEM. There are lots of opportunities to volunteer, so please read the Qué Pasa announcements that are sent out every Friday to your email and also on Facebook. Thank you!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR K-4 ROAR WINNERS! During the month of November, the elementary students have been working on “Always Looking On The Bright Side.” Congratulations to the elementary November monthly ROAR winners!

NDPA STUDENT NEWS – Congratulations to Connor J., who was selected as a WSU Entrepreneurship finalist! Our enterprising 7th grader competed in this high school competition and was named one of 6 finalists. He will compete in round 2 on December 2…good luck, Connor!
