Dear NDPA Parents,

As we get ready to start school, I wanted to make you aware of some changes we will be making for the upcoming year:
NEW ELECTRONIC VISITOR & VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN SYSTEM
Coming soon, NDPA will begin utilizing an electronic system for visitors, volunteers, and students. This new system will impact families in the following ways:
  • Any person entering the school for the first time to volunteer, eat lunch with a student, or for any other reason requiring them to access the school beyond the lobby, will need to show ID to the person at the front desk. The system will scan the ID and “approve” the individual for entry into the school. Future visits by the same individual will only require a quick ID scan and sign-in at the designated kiosk.
  • Any person who is approved to pick up students (as designated in Aspire Gradebook) who would like to check a student out will be required to appear inside the school and show proof of identification. They will be asked to remain in the lobby until the student can be located and sent to meet them.
Our hope is that students and parents will feel safe inside our school and that emergency rosters will be more accurate.
NEW ONLINE PAYMENT SYSTEM
We are excited to announce a new online payment system through Secure Instant Payments. This system will allow you to pay for lunch, Jr. High fees, Dollar Dress Days, field trips, etc. – all online. There will be a small fee to use this new system but we feel the convenience is well worth it! If you do not want to pay the fee, you are always welcome to pay with cash or check in the office.
IMMERSION APPLICATION CHANGE
We will have a minor change in the Immersion selection process. Immersion selection has always been based on the number of openings in each grade. As in the past, NDPA employees, POET Board members, and class captains for the upcoming school year will receive first preference. Once those students have received placement, anyone with 30 or more volunteer hours and new students with previous Spanish Immersion experience will be put into a random lottery selection to fill the remaining openings. Applications for the next school year will be sent by email at the end of April. Parents will be notified by email, whether selected or not, by the last day of school.
BE SURE TO COME TO BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS AND JR. HIGH REGISTRATION:
  • Jr. High Registration & Back to School Night (watch your email for more details later today)
    • Wednesday, August 9
      • 7th grade: 5:00 PM

We look forward to these changes and the upcoming school year! As always, please contact me or Mr. Fernandez with questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Ryan Robinson
