It is important to be aware of students who might be around you when you are entering and exiting the drives, pulling out of your parking spot, and going around other cars. Taking an extra moment to double check your surroundings will help us keep our school safe. Giving yourself just 5 extra minutes will eliminate the need to take risks.

AT-HOME VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

ART AUCTION DONATIONS COMMITTEE – We are need volunteers for the donations committee. This is a really easy way to get those volunteer hours! Much of the work be done from home via phone or email. We even have an easy script to follow and businesses are happy to donate. We want to have a good turnout of items for our silent auction to help earn money for our school. Please contact Isabel Patterson at isabelcpatterson@gmail.com or voice/text: 801-380-7659. We will have a meeting this coming Wednesday, August 31, at 8:00 PM. Please text or email for more information. We would love to have you join our committee!

  • If you own or have an “in” with a business that can donate, please contact Isabel Patterson to make arrangements, isabelcpatterson@gmail.com or voice/text: 801-380-7659.

JR. HIGH SCIENCE DEPARTMENT HELP – Mrs. Adams and Mr. Abbott are in need of a parent volunteer to schedule and coordinate Science speakers for the week of Dec. 12-16th. This is a great opportunity to get your volunteer hours from home and help with an amazing program. Every year, the science department at the Jr. High invites guest speakers from different scientific fields to speak with the Jr. High students. If you are willing to help organize this event, please send an email to Nushean Lowder at nlowder@northdavisprep.org with your contact information or click on this link to sign up: http://signup.com/go/LNuHwa. If you are a professional in a scientific field and would like to help get students excited about careers in science by giving a short presentation and showing real-world applications for the concepts they are learning, then we would love to have you volunteer as a speaker. Please email Nushean Lowder at nlowder@northdasvisprep.org for more information. Thank you!

HOW TO LOG YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURS – You may have noticed that we are trying a new system for reporting volunteer hours this year. We are using Signup.com to organize AND log our volunteer hours.

How do I find volunteer opportunities?
You can sign up to be contacted about events that POET sponsors throughout the school year by clicking this link: http://signup.com/go/M7a5DG which leads you to the school volunteer page. We also have signups for current school activities on the volunteer page. Right now a link for Fun Run volunteers is active on the page.

If you would like to volunteer in the classroom, ask your class captain about opportunities. Class captains will typically email you with volunteer needs that arise and will setup volunteer calendars for recurring spots. Don’t forget to keep an eye on Que Pasa and Facebook for more volunteer opportunities!

How do I log my hours?
Any volunteer spot listed with a specific time when you sign up will automatically get tracked. For example, if your class captain sends out a link and you signup to help in a kindergarten classroom on Mondays from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., THERE IS NO NEED to log those hours. They will be logged automatically for you once the date arrives. If something comes up and you need to cancel a spot you can no longer make, follow these instructions: https://signuphelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202193314–How-do-I-make-changes-to-my-spots-or-cancel-my-shift-.

If you volunteer for hours that are unrelated to specific sign up sheet, you log them as spots in the Generic Hour sign-up, https://signup.com/client/invitation/6775657374/1543917/false#!1543917/false/false, (also found on the volunteer tab of the school website.) Click here for a visual, explaining how to log those hours: https://magic.piktochart.com/output/15418689-ndpa-hours.

How do I know many volunteer hours I have?
You can always see the number of generic volunteer hours you have each time you log more hours. This signup works as a counter, and you are adding hours to the total each time. You can view your complete volunteer hours across all signups and activities if you register your account with a password and run a report of your hours. Most parents do not already have a registered account password, because it is not required to use the system. If you wish to register an account, go to www.SignUp.com and click Register. Register the email address you use for your participation and designate a password, then run a report (https://signuphelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204730390-How-do-I-get-a-report-of-my-personal-volunteer-hours-service-record-) of all your volunteer activity.

If you don’t want to register your account, don’t worry; volunteer hours will continue to be reported monthly in Que Pasa.

Thanks for being patient with us as we continue to refine the user interface of this new system. If you have questions or problems, email them to: NDPAVolunteerCoordinator@gmail.com
